INTRODUCTION
1.0 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY.
Management information system (M.I.S) can be thought of as any systematic processes for providing report data or other inputs performance. The creation and storage of inputs, performance, if processes and creation of storage of outputs are the function of an information system
However, information systems have existed as long as life of this planet, until recently they have been severely restricted in the ability to assimilate a large volume of data. The advent of computer allowed management to expand its horizons and expectations concerning the possibilities of such system. Prior to computers, limited types of analyses and correlation of business data could be extracted from vast amount of information gathered in most business environment.
The word “information system” accompanies two features. One relates to an understanding and appreciation of what information is and the other refers to the characteristic of a system. Therefore one can simply put that, information refers to processed data from which some meaning or signals could a given be retrieved. The signals will alert the seekers of such information of impounding development in the environment as they relate to a given subject matter. It must have a surprise value or something the receiver hadn’t knows before.
Constituting valuable information, processed data must be able to have high emerging opportunities and threats in the external environment. It also should provide adequate warnings regarding the extent to which the organization is
