ABSTRACT
This study is intended to examine federalism and crises management. This study was guided by the following objectives; to critically evaluate the Nigeria federal state and its workability, to identify and highlight the factors responsible for the emergence of Boko Haram, to investigate a case story which illuminates the challenges of modern federalism, to examine the challenges posed by Boko haram, to ascertained how the Boko haram menace can be reduced and to examine the problem of federalism if its federal, state of local. The study employed the descriptive and explanatory design; questionnaires in addition to library research were applied in order to collect data. Primary and secondary data sources were used and data was analyzed using the chi square statistical tool at 5% level of significance which was presented in frequency tables and percentage. The respondents under the study were 100 selected residents of Lagos State, Nigeria. The study findings revealed that crisis management reduces Boko haram incidents; based on the findings from the study, The government should also try to find a lasting solution to the activities of the Boko-Haram sect by first of all knowing the immediate and remote causes of the emergence of the group, what they are actually fighting for and possible, the meeting of their demand and to do this.
