INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the Study

1.2 Statement of the Problem

Despite agriculture’s central economic importance, rural Nigeria continues to experience severe poverty, with World Bank (2025) data indicating prevalence rates surpassing 75% across numerous regions. Scholars attribute this persistent deprivation to multiple interconnected factors, including agricultural productivity levels that fall substantially short of international benchmarks, climate-related vulnerabilities manifested through flooding and drought conditions, and systemic inefficiencies in post-harvest management (Otekunrin et al., 2019; Akinyemi & Asiyanbola, 2019).
